Shred: Born and raised in Bakersfield Ca.
I got my nickname by winning a small guitar competition at the age of 15.
As a self taught guitarist, I grew up listening to Classic Rock, and Heavy Metal. But I had a big love for Blues music. Eventually I moved to Huntington Beach, Ca. where I would compete in Guitar competitions, but finding a blues band was next to impossible.
Later I moved to Las Vegas and tried my hand at Hard-Core music. I’d been in and out of a number of Hard-Core bands, playing solo acoustic gigs and developing my singing and songwriting skills. I’ve had many great experiences being in some of the Hard-Core and Modern Rock bands I’ve been in, with some very prominent musicians in The Las Vegas scene.
HOW I MET HALEAMANO:
Eventually I became frustrated with the Heavy Metal scene. I just wasn’t happy playing it anymore. But music is just too big of a part of my life, so I started looking for ads for guitar players just to see what I could find. I came across an ad looking for “possibly” a second guitar player. I couldn’t respond to the ad through my e-mail. So I searched the Band-name until I found some of their music online.
Within the first 20-seconds of hearing their music, I was blown away. I HAD to be in this band. But why would they want a Heavy Metal guitar player? So I spent a Sunday writing and recording a song. I sent the band a message asking (begging) them to listen to it just to see if I might be right for the band…No response for a couple of days… (STUPID!! STUPID!! I KNEW THEY WOULD HATE IT!!) I took the song off..
Then I got a Message. I almost didn’t want to open it. I was expecting something like, “your song is lame, stop contacting us.” But instead it was an invitation for an audition.
